Victor Zuniga Jr. is currently the Director of activities at the Sutton Oaks Apartments in the Eastside Promise Neighborhood footprint. He is originally from Kingsville, Texas and moved to San Antonio when he was in 8th grade. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in the city’s Northeast side. Victor is a graduate of San Antonio Community College. After graduation, he worked with the Dallas Cowboys fan club and the San Antonio Spurs doing marketing and broadcasting. Victor later started his own marketing company which got attention from the Franklin Apartment Management Group and helped develop the Sutton Oaks apartments. It was then that Victor was first introduced to the Eastside Promise Neighborhood and the opportunities for his residents in the community.
Victor enjoys working to better this community and provide opportunities for his residents to succeed. Among all of Victor’s accomplishments, he partnered with Beth Keel from the San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) to assist in the creation and implementation of the Eastpoint Soul community garden that is located on the grounds of the apartment complex. He hosts and aids in the creation and continuation of “What’s Victor Cooking?”: an interactive and educational cooking class that is offered to Sutton Oaks residents.
Victor is the chairman of the Eastside Promise Neighborhood Education Committee (that consists of: out of school time programming & college and career), he sits on the Board of Directors for Select Credit Union and the Board of Directors for Ella Austin Community Center as well. He is passionate about seeing his community flourish and bringing awareness to health education initiatives. Victor is most proud of the trust his residents have gained in him. Many see him as someone who is a selfless leader, genuinely caring about the improvement of their lives.
